Terms & Conditions

Last Updated: April 2026

By booking a consultation, paying a deposit, or engaging in any services provided by Sort It Home Organising, you (the "Client") agree to the following terms and conditions.

1. Services Provided

Sort It Home Organising provides professional organising, decluttering, and space optimisation services.

The initial consultation maybe conducted in person, via telephone or video call. Any recommendations made will be based on what you share and how the space is presented at the time.

Nature of Service: Our services are consultative and collaborative. We provide guidance, but the final decision on whether to keep, discard, donate, or sell any item rests solely with the Client.

No Guarantee: While we strive for transformative results, we cannot guarantee specific aesthetic outcomes or that a project will be completed in a set timeframe, as progress is dependent on the Client’s decision-making speed.

2. Fees and Payment

Deposit: A non-refundable deposit of £50 is required to secure your booking date. This will be deducted from your final invoice.

Payment Terms: Full payment is due on the day of completion of the session.

Method: Payment is accepted via bank transfer only.

Late Payments: We reserve the right to charge interest on any late payments at a rate of 5% above the Bank of England base rate.

3. Cancellation & Rescheduling

Notice Period: We require at least 48 hours’ notice to cancel or reschedule an appointment.

Late Cancellations: Cancellations made within 24 hours of the appointment will result in the forfeiture of the £50 deposit with no option to reschedule using that same credit.

Our Rights: Sort It Home Organising reserves the right to cancel or reschedule in the event of illness, emergency, or unforeseen circumstances. In the unlikely event we must cancel and cannot reschedule, your deposit will be refunded in full.

4. Client Responsibilities & Conduct

Presence: The Client must be present (or reachable) to make decisions.

Safe Environment: The Client must provide a safe working environment, free from hazards (mould, structural issues) and aggressive pets.

Distractions: To maximise efficiency, we recommend the workspace be free of distractions, including unsupervised children and pets.

High-Value Items: The Client is responsible for identifying and flagging any fragile, high-value, or sentimental items before work begins.

Professional Conduct: We reserve the right to terminate a session immediately without a refund if we encounter abusive behaviour, harassment, or illegal activities.

5. Limits of Liability

Accidental Damage: While we handle your belongings with extreme care, we are not liable for accidental breakage or damage to items that are fragile, poorly maintained or improperly installed by third parties, unless caused by our direct negligence.

Insurance: Sort It Home Organising maintains Public Liability Insurance; however, Clients are encouraged to ensure their own Homeowner’s/Renter’s insurance is current.

Third Parties: We are not liable for the work, pricing or conduct of any third-party tradespeople (e.g., handymen, cleaners) recommended by us.

Disposal: Once items are removed for donation or disposal at the Client's request, they cannot be retrieved.

6. Health and Safety

Right to Refuse: We reserve the right to leave a site if we encounter environments that pose a health risk (e.g., infestations, biohazards, extreme filth). In these cases, the deposit is non-refundable.

Lifting/Moving: We are not professional movers. For safety and insurance reasons, we do not lift or move furniture or items weighing more than 20kg.

Illegal Items: If illegal items (e.g., unlicensed firearms, controlled substances) are discovered, we reserve the right to stop work immediately.

7. Confidentiality & Privacy

Privacy: We provide a discreet service. If you prefer we do not wear branded uniform, please notify us in advance.

Photography: We take "Before and After" photos for internal tracking. These will never be shared on social media or our website without your explicit written consent via a separate Media Release.

GDPR: Any personal data collected (name, address, email) is handled in accordance with UK GDPR and our Privacy Policy.

8. Travel and Parking

Radius: Services within a 10-mile radius of Leicester City Centre (LE1 1DA) are included in the standard rate.

Travel Surcharge: Locations outside this radius incur a fee of 45p per mile (round trip).

Parking/Tolls: All parking fees, congestion charges, or tolls incurred during the service will be added to the final invoice.

9. Procurement & Removal of Items

Supplies: The Client is responsible for the cost of all storage solutions. These should be on-site by the time the session begins.

Donations: We may offer a one-time, complimentary carload of donations to a local charity per session (subject to car space and charity acceptance policies).

Waste: We cannot transport hazardous waste (paint, chemicals, electronics, sharps). The Client is responsible for any fees associated with council "bulky waste" or professional rubbish removal.

10. Virtual Organising

• Virtual sessions are strictly advisory. The Client assumes all risk for physical labour and the accuracy of measurements provided to us.

• Recording of virtual sessions is prohibited by either party without express written consent.

11. Intellectual Property

Any customised systems, digital templates, or organisational plans created by Sort It Home Organising remain our intellectual property and are for the Client's personal use only.

12. Governing Law

These Terms & Conditions are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
